My children all adored
Roald Dahl! His genius
turned fairy stories into scary stories but with such humour!
They used to howl at the line in
The Twits where it said
'dirty old hags always have itchy tummies' - when I scratched my tummy the
boys would be convulsed with laughter!
If you would love to try a classic,
Jane Austin's
Pride and Prejudice is just

If you want a damn good read with lots of action
