authors and books i adore

Why do I think no one will ever read this page??????LOL

I have discovered Alexander McCall-Smith! His books are magic.

Do read the Ladies Number One Detective Agency series, and quite frankly anything else  you can get your hands on by the author! His books are wonderful!

Have you read the Cazalet Chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard? I promise you will get wrapped up in it and wont regret it!

How could I not mention Pat Barker! The Ghost Road Trilogy is just amazing!

Sebastian Faulkes is another magical author! Try Birdsong, or On Green Dolphin Street - so moving!

I adore Miss Reads books about Village Life, They are peaceful and theraputic.

I love everything by William Butler Yeats

As a child I constantly read Enid Blyton......

The Famous Five,  The Secret Seven, The Find Outers and Buster.....adventurous and moral  and wonderful!

For entertainment and travel, I highly recommend Bill Brysons books. I read them over and over and I find them hilarious and informative.

Joseph O Connor is another author I have found that I adore. Do read Star of the Sea, and Inishowen.

Everyone should read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho  Its inspirational.

If you are struggling with any aspect of your life, I can highly recommend all Louise Hays books. They are amazing for building self confidence and helping you change your thinking patterns, or at least making you AWARE that they matter. Try You can Heal your Life

There is a set of poetry books by Daisy Goodwin that I like to keep nearby. 101 Poems to Keep you Sane, 101 Poems that Could Save your Life - just two of them.

How could I not mention the fantastic Maeve Binchy? Her books are pure magic, Every one is amazing and evocative and a masterpiece in its own right!

Have you read Angela's Ashes? by Frank McCourt?

If you have any Irish in you, or even if you dont, this book is well worth reading:.the poverty, the misery, the love...

My children all adored Roald Dahl! His genius turned fairy stories into scary stories but with such humour!

They used to howl at the line in The Twits where it said 'dirty old hags always have itchy tummies' - when I scratched my tummy the boys would be convulsed with laughter!

If you would love to try a classic, Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice is just amazing! It will make you laugh and cry!

If you want a damn good read with lots of action and adventure read Jackie Collins Lovers and Gamblers.

Its outrageous, wonderful, gripping and probably very true!
